DLSS 5 Leak Reveals NVIDIA’s Next Step Toward AI-Powered Graphics
NVIDIA’s next-generation DLSS 5 technology may have been revealed earlier than expected after a hidden component was discovered inside the early access version of NBA 2K27.
Players found a file named “nvngx_dlssnr.dll”, identified as a DLSS 5 neural rendering component. Shortly after the discovery, modders from the RenoDX community successfully injected the technology into Remedy’s Control, allowing players to see the feature running in a game without official support.
The early test showed noticeable improvements in visual quality. Neural rendering enhanced character details, lighting effects, skin textures, clothing materials, hair, and other surface details. Unlike traditional upscaling technologies, DLSS 5 appears to focus on using AI to improve how game visuals are generated.
However, the unofficial test also revealed a major drawback: performance cost.
At 4K resolution on an RTX 5070 Ti, enabling DLSS 5 neural rendering reportedly caused performance losses close to 50%, cutting frame rates significantly. The current version also has limitations, including a lack of proper HDR support.
The performance impact is likely related to the unofficial implementation method. A full NVIDIA-supported release could benefit from deeper hardware optimization and improved Tensor Core acceleration.
If NVIDIA can reduce the performance cost, DLSS 5 could represent a major shift in PC graphics technology, moving beyond simple frame generation and image reconstruction toward AI-assisted visual creation.
MSI Launches $100,000 AI Workstation With NVIDIA GB300 Chip
While gamers are watching the future of graphics, AI computing continues to push hardware into a completely different category.
MSI has officially launched the XpertStation WS300 AI workstation, a desktop system based on NVIDIA’s DGX Station architecture. The workstation starts at $99,999 and is designed for professional AI development rather than traditional gaming.
The system features NVIDIA’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, combining a 72-core Arm Neoverse V2 Grace CPU with a Blackwell Ultra GPU through a 900GB/s NVLink-C2C connection.
Its biggest feature is the massive 748GB unified memory system, including 252GB of HBM3e GPU memory and 496GB of LPDDR5X system memory. This allows large AI models to remain loaded in memory, improving performance for advanced AI workloads.
The workstation supports NVIDIA Blackwell professional GPUs, including RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell and other professional models. It also includes PCIe 5.0 expansion, high-speed storage support, and a 1600W power supply.
For ordinary PC gamers, a $100,000 AI workstation is obviously far beyond practical hardware. However, it represents a larger industry trend: technologies originally developed around graphics processing are increasingly becoming the foundation of AI computing.
The question for gamers is whether these advancements will eventually improve consumer GPUs, or whether AI demand will continue competing with gaming hardware resources.
PowerColor Reveals A Plague Tale-Themed RX 9070 XT Graphics Card
Not all GPU news is focused on AI. PowerColor has also introduced a graphics card aimed directly at gamers with a special collaboration edition based on A Plague Tale: Legacy of Resonance.
Created in partnership with AMD and Focus Entertainment, the PowerColor Hellhound AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 Resonance Edition features a custom design inspired by the game.
The graphics card includes artwork featuring protagonist Sophia and the game’s world on the backplate, with a vintage gold color scheme. The Hellhound lighting system has also been redesigned with an amber color effect to match the game’s atmosphere.
The hardware itself uses AMD RDNA 4 architecture, featuring 64 compute units, 16GB GDDR6 memory, a 256-bit memory interface, and boost frequencies of up to 3010MHz in OC mode.
Cooling is handled by a triple-fan 2.5-slot design, including reverse-rotation fans, dual-ball bearings, Honeywell PTM7950 thermal material, and a large copper GPU contact plate. The card also features dual BIOS support, allowing users to choose between performance and quieter operation.
